Delhi to give relief package to rain-affected farmers: CM

New Delhi, April 3 (IANS): Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday said his government would soon announce a relief package for farmers affected by untimely rain in the national capital.

"The AAP government is dedicated for the welfare of farmers and is with them in their tough time. We will soon announce a relief package for them," he said.

Kejriwal, also Aam Aadmi Party chief, made the remark after a meeting with the party MLAs at his official residence.

AAP MLAs from Narela, Mundka, Najafgarh and Matiala constituencies apprised the chief minister about the losses suffered by the farmers due to untimely rains last month.

Narela MLA Kailash Gahlot told Kejriwal that crops in thousands of acre had been damaged because of untimely rain while Matiala MLA Gulab Singh appealed to him to evaluate the losses and announce a relief package for the affected farmers.
