Mangalore, Feb 28: An alleged aide of Dawood Ibrahim gang, said to be the mastermind of a ring involved in distribution of fake Indian currency from Dubai, was produced in a court in Mangalore on Wednesday.

Abdul Rashid Hussainar Puttur (32), a native of Mangalore, had been arrested by the Anti Terrorist Squad of the Maharashtra police in Dubai in mid-November 2006.

Then he was brought to Mumbai via Delhi. He was remanded on charges of distributing fake India currency in Duabi using the hawala channel.


Two of Abdul's fellow gang members Gufran Farookhi and Hasan Sheikh had earlier been arrested in suburban Chembur with fake Indian currency of face value Rs 1,47,500 even as another gang member, Abdul Kadir alias K T successfully evaded arrest.
