Mangalore, Mar 1: The verdict on sharing of Cauvery water passed by the tribunal last month saw yet another protest with several organisations under Cauvery Horata Samiti marched the streets here on Wednesday February 28 demanding justice for farmers here.

The procession that started from Light House Hill here culminated in front of the deputy commissioner’s office where a dharna was staged.

Addressing the protesters, Samajwadi Party district general secretary S P Chengappa termed the verdict as an injustice to the farmers in the state. He said that farmer suicides are on the increase because of crop failure resulting from shortage of water.

A memorandum was submitted in this regard to the President of India, prime minister and chief minister on the occasion.

About 50 comprising of members of organisations like Human Rights Association, Yuva Janata Dal, Gowda Vidyarthi Samiti, Rajkumar’s Fans Association and Kodava Students’ Association were present.
