Belthangady, Apr 8: “Congress government will complete two years of governance on May 13. In this regard most of the promises made in the Congress manifesto have been implemented. A book on such information will be released soon”, said revenue minister V Srinivasa Prasad.

He was speaking after laying the foundation stone for Mini Vidhana Saudha at a cost of Rs ten crores on Monday, April 6.

128 mini Vidhana Saudhas:

“128 mini Saudhas are constructed in 178 taluks. Work on twenty mini Vidhana Saudhas is in progress. 13 other mini Vidhana Saudhas are approved. 17 of them are yet to be built. The foundation stone will be laid in Bantwal soon. The deputy commissioner's complexes are to be built in 30 places. Twelve of them are ready. Three of them are being built. Two are likely to be approved soon. Five are being reviewed and eight are pending”, he informed.

“The department of Revenue has brought several programmes to the door steps of people through Adalats. 7,711 Revenue Adalats are held in the state and 7.94 lac RTCs are corrected. 3,507 pension Adalats are held and 1.39 lac people are being paid pension. Rs 2,800 crores are being spent on the payment of pension. 1.1 crore children are issued backward class and income certificates. The menace of touts is done away with and the officials are making the facilities reach the doorsteps of the people. 4,460 applications from Dakshina Kannada and 3.48 lac applications in the state are received to legalize houses under section 94 C”.

Rs five crores for development work in naxal afflicted area:

“The MLA has put forth a demand for Rs five crores under Naxal area development fund and there will be attempts to get it. Rs five crores are needed for Mini Vidhana Saudha and there is an action plan for Rs eight crores. Let the government spend another five crores for the mini Vidhana Saudha and build a spacious Saudha bringing all the departments in the building”, he said.

MLA K Vasanth Bangera said that more amounts should be allocated for the taluk as it has the maximum number of grams. “Rs 56 crores for Kindi dam, Rs 14.5 crores for Didupe Elaneeru road, Rs five crores for development of Naxal affected area and Rs 50 lacs should be released as compensation for Arecanut filth disease. He said that he will be resigning if Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Uttar Kannada are not set aside from 9/11 problem. All the taluks and grams are provided power. All state highways and national highways are completely tarred, but there is scarcity of Rs 2,200 for the development of rural roads”, he said.

“Zilla panchayat president Asha Thimmappa Gowda and lower division officials should be made to work harder. 9/11 should be corrected, Former gram panchayat members should also get pension”, he said.

Zilla panchayat members Shailesh Kumar, C K Chandrakala, Dhanalaxmi Janardhan, Taluk panchayat president Jayanti Paledu, Nagara panchayat president Musthar Jan Mehboob, APMC president Dharanendra Kumar, deputy commissioner A B Ibrahim, Tehsildar Putta Shetty, PWD executive engineer A G Dharmaraj, assistant executive engineer B Subhaschandra, Mescom executive engineer Umesh and others were present.

Personal secretary of MLA, D Prashanth Balanja said that a RTO sub office should be sanctioned for the taluk and natural calamity fund amount should be increased.Different facilities of Revenue department were distributed. The inauguration of free electricity facilities for 5,451 houses in 80 grams at a cost of Rs 20.51 crores was held on the occasion.
