Pakistan Parliament still debating Yemen issue

Islamabad, April 8 (IANS): Pakistan Parliament continued the joint session of its two houses for the third day Wednesday to decide on whether to join the Saudi Arabia-led coalition against rebel Houthi in Yemen.

Saudi Arabia has asked Pakistan to join a Saudi-led military coalition that began conducting air strikes last month against the Shia Houthi forces in Yemen, Dawn online reported.

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif is also scheduled to arrive in Islamabad later in the day on a two-day visit.

"Iran should also join the discussion and evaluate whether their policy is correct or not," Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said.

The premier has repeatedly said he will defend any threat to Saudi Arabia's "territorial integrity" without defining what threat that could be, or what action he would take.
