Kundapur, Apr 9: An attempt of rape was reported at Kongan Khan in Karkunje village of Kundapur taluk on Wednesday April 8 afternoon.
The accused has been identified as Ajith Shetty (28) a resident of Karkunje.
As per details, the girl who studies in 9th standard was near the water well at around 12. 45 afternoon for the purpose of washing clothes. The accused who came to the place tried to rape the girl.
The girl who managed to run away from the culprit went home and narrated the incident to her parents. The accused was not to be found in the village as search was launched to find him. The accused is an electrician.
Police have registered the case under Pocso act and are on the lookout for Ajith Shetty.
