Kolkata, April 9 (IANS): Mother Dairy, a wholly owned subsidiary of the National Dairy Development Board, is hoping to close fiscal year 2014-15 at nearly Rs.7,000 crore revenue, up by 10 percent compared to 2013-14.

"The final results are still awaited but we hope to close the year 2014-15 between Rs.6,900-7,000 crore," the company's business head for dairy products Subhashis Basu told media persons here.

It has recently launched dairy whitener and is optimist about the sales in this category this year.

"Dairy whitener market in India is estimated at Rs.2,000 crore with the east and northeast (India) contributing at least 45 percent of the annual consumption. We hope to capture atleast five percent of this market this year," said Basu.

This segment is growing nationally at 15 percent every year.

Post the roll-out of the whitener in the east and northeast, it will be introduced in other markets nationally and thereafter, the company will venture into ultra-heated milk, tetra pack beverages and other products which have a higher shelf life and do not require a cold chain distribution network.

"These products have already been test marketed," Basu said.

The new product line will be manufactured at its plant in Etawah in Uttar Pradesh which was recently built with an investment of Rs.150 crore.
