Electricity index growing at 'blazing' rate: Goyal

New Delhi, April 11 (IANS): Power Minister Piyush Goyal on Saturday said electricity index has grown at a "blazing" average of 9 percent year-on-year in the first nine months of the National Democratic Alliance government.

"Electricity index has grown at a blazing average of 9 percent (year-on-year) in the first nine months of the new government. Delighted that manufacturing growth in the Index of Industrial Production (IIP) has hit a nine month high of 5.2 percent in February," he tweeted.

The government on Friday revealed industrial activity in the country, measured in terms of the Index of Industrial Production (IIP), which registered a 5 percent growth during February 2015 as compared to a 2.6 percent rise in the previous month.

"This shows the impact of Make in India programme & is an indicator of industrial revival," Goyal tweeted.

He further added: "Under the decisive & visionary leadership of Hon'ble PM Shri @narendramodi ji, India will achieve unprecedented development. Congrats to the team work of power, coal and new & renewable energy officials."
