Mangalore, Mar 6: In view of the repeated incidents of communal violence in various parts of the state including here, a permanent communal harmony coordination committee will be set up in communally sensitive parts of the state in the near future.
This was announced by Karnataka Minorities Development Corporation (KMDC) chairman Anwar Manipady at press conference here on Monday March 5.
The committee will comprise of leaders of various communities, tahsildar, heads of various departments and police officers. The members will meet once in a month to discuss various issues related to communal harmony and also look in to religious programmes planned in the city.
Steps have already been taken in this regard with a proposal for funds being sent to the deputy chief minister, Manipady informed.
