Mangalore, Mar 8: Mangalore University will host the third Students’ Literary Conference for post graduate and under graduate students studying under its umbrella at the Old Senate Hall in the University campus on Saturday March 10.

A press release stated that the conference has been organised under the auspices of the University’s Old Students’ Association. Students from Kasargod district will also take part.

The programme will be inaugurated by noted litterateur and scholar Dr Kayyara Kinhanna Rai while University vice-chancellor Prof K M Kaveriappa will preside.

The valedictory will be held on the same evening, presided over by MLC Capt Ganesh Karnik. Novelist and thinker K T Gatti will be the chief guest.

Young writers and poets will be felicitated on the occasion by Karnik.

The conference will consist of sessions on essays, poetry and short stories by selected students. Students will also present papers on topics relating to urbanisation, feminism and on Yakshagana artiste late Dr Sheni Gopalakrishna Bhat.

As many as 15 students will recite their poems during the poetry session while in the short story session three students will take part, the release stated.

Writer Balasubrahmanya Kanjarpane, poetess Jyothi Guruprasad and litterateur Abdul Rasheed will preside over paper presentation, poetry and short story sessions respectively.
