RBI website refurbished for easy usage, increased outreach


Chennai, April 15 (IANS): The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has refurbished its website to make it more user friendly and to reach out to the people through social media, a senior official said.

"This is the third time we are refurbishing our website based on feedback. The refurbishment is done to bring the website up to date with technology," principal chief general manager Alpana Killawala told IANS over phone from Mumbai.

She said the new website has the information bifurcated function-wise.

"The search feature in the new website is much more efficient," Killawala said.

According to her, RBI will send out alerts on Twitter on the announcements made and also place the press conferences, interviews of top officials and others on Youtube.

The RSS feed facility was already there in the old website.

She said it took around six months to complete the website revamp.

"Our site is 60-70 GB in size," Killawala added.

RBI's internal team as well as its existing web manager worked together to complete the refurbishment, she said.

On the frequency of website updation, Killawala said it is done daily.
