Udupi, Mar 8: While the dogs' attack in Bangalore has hit news headlines, a similar incident is now reported from Manipal, the education hub of the state.

An ape roaming around in the Manipal vicinity has begun attacking human beings.  Already more than 10 persons have been bitten by this ape.  The injured have been either been admitted to district government hospital at Ajjarkad or KMC Hospital at Manipal. 

A few of the injured have been identified as Bhakta Singh, Dinesh (19) and Ravishankar (40).  While Ravishankar has sustained a serious injury on his right hand, the ape has bitten on Dinesh's legs. Seven more injured have been admitted to KMC hospital.

It is almost a week since the ape is on rampage in the area causing problem to the people. People visiting famous End Point and surrounding areas have been largely affected.  Locals said that so far there has been no action taken by the forest department or even by the administration to prevent from ape's menace.
