Karkala, Mar 9: A curious case of a person from Durga in the taluk who had been missing from here for 32 years having died in Mumbai in an accident last Saturday has been reported.

Anand Pathak (55), hailing from a Chitpavan Brahmin community in Durga, reportedly disappeared 32 years ago from his native village and had not returned home. All efforts to trace him had borne no fruit.

Eighteen years after his going missing, a letter was received from him and confirmed his presence in Kashmir. Later on, he is said to have left Kashmir and set up a canteen in Mumbai.

On March 3, 2007 he had fallen off a running Tempo vehicle in Dombivali in Thane district near Mumbai and seriously injured. He lated died in the hospital.

Pathak, in spite of staying away from home, is understood to have preserved his home address in his pocket, on the basis of which, the Thane police informed his relatives in Durga.
