Mumbai, April 16 (IANS): A benchmark index of the Indian equities markets, the 30-scrip BSE Sensitive Index (Sensex), provisionally ended Thursday's trade down 155 points or 0.54 percent.
The wider 50-scrip Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) also ended provisionally in the red. It was down 43.50 points or 0.50 percent at 8,706.70 points.
The Sensex of the S&P Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 28,876.23 points, closed the day's trade at 28,645.13 points (at 3.30 p.m.) down 154.56 points or 0.54 percent from the previous day's close at 28,799.69 points.
The Sensex touched a high of 28,876.23 points and a low of 28,497.70 points in the intra-day trade.
The S&P BSE midcap closed 83.52 points down. The S&P BSE smallcap was lower by 114.63 points.
