Time for our retirement has come: Digvijay

New Delhi, Apr 17 (PTI): "Old leaves fall, new ones grow. Time for our retirement has come. It is the era of youth," Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh today said a day after Rahul Gandhi came back ending his sabbatical amid talk of his possible elevation as Congress President.

Addressing a gathering of Haryana Congress leaders here to chalk out plans for Sunday's Kisan rally, Singh said that he, Ahmed Patel and many leaders, were made PCC chiefs at the age of 38 and 33 and "now it is time for youngsters".

"It is the era of youths. Time for our retirement has come. It is nature's law. Old leaves ripen and then fall. New leaves then grow. Youth is the flavour of the season. The leadership of youths will come and will lead the country.

"Our success is in the success of Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi. All party workers are fighting under the leadership of Sonia and Rahul," Singh said.

Questions have been raised by some Congressmen in recent days about Rahul's leadership abilities, notably by two former Chief Ministers, Amarinder Singh of Punjab and Sheila Dikshit of Delhi. Others have conveyed similar sentiments by demanding that Sonia Gandhi should continue to lead the party.

Even yesterday after Rahul's return, former MP Sandip Dikshit stuck to his stand of backing Sonia Gandhi as the top party leader insisting that a change at this juncture could bring "friction" and delay the revival of an "electorally weakened party".

At the meeting of the Haryana leaders today, Singh launched a strong attack on RSS, BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

"BJP is originally anti-farmer. I want to ask who had gone to fight for farmers in Champaran--Mahatama Gandhi or M S Golwalkar. Who had gone to fight for farmers in Bardoli in Gujarat---Sardar Patel or K B Hedgewar?" he said.
Both Golwalkar and Hedgewar are RSS icons.

    Diggi Baba,

Your retiring from politics statement is as good as the one of our Mangi Dongi Baba Poojary who had d that if he gets defeated in the Lok Sabha election he too will retire from politics.

You should have retired 10 years ago and at least you would have got a litlle bit respect than what you you get now because of your loose talk. Anyway it is better late than never but take this Janna with you too and if required a list of others too can be provided.

Our success is in the success of Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi. now where was and is the success, it would rather be failure is the failure, of Rahul gandhi, success would come only if priyanka gandhi enter, failure was during Sitaram kesri and Rahul gandhi.so why not change the leader Priyanka Gandhi would bring 200 percent success for she has got the charm of indira gandhi, the style which no leadeders has in the present politics or polititions.get Priyanka Gandhi and watch the down fall of Modi and the BJP.

The man who is responsible for Rahul Gandhi, a Pappu.

The People of MP have sent this Budda Dulhe Raja to retirement more than a decade back. Since then he was @$$ licking at 10 Janpath, scripting Pappu's Politics, making him do all that he was not supposed to do to grow politically, man behind Pappu's women empowerment , in turn ended empowering himself with a women of his grand daughters age at this stage of life.

This new retirement is nothing but time he needs for his impending marriage to a women snooped and got by spoiling another house. So we wish him happy married life and hope he stops his Fekugiri atleast at this stage of life.
