Vinay Pais for Daijiworld Media Network - Kundapur (GA)

Kundapur, Mar 10: A day-long programme on the occasion of International Women's Day was held at Holy Cross Church at Byndoor near here on Thursday March 8.

The programme organized by Stree Sanghatan (Women's Association) of Holy Cross Church was declared open by Fr Francis Cornelio by lighting the lamp.

Parish council vice-president Martin Dias, Sr Lily Mary, superior of the Convent and Joyles Rodrigues were present on the dais.

Dr Pramila Nayak, Veronica Cornelio, district women's Congress chief and Merwyn Saldanha were the resource persons.  They enlightened the gathering on health and hygiene, women's rights.  Shivram Poojary delivered a lecture on Self Help Groups and self employment. More than 150 women participated in the celebration and availed benefits.

Earlier association president Josephine Lobo welcomed the gathering and Flora proposed the vote of thanks.  Joswin Rodrigues presented the annual report.
