Mangalore, Mar 10: Justice M F Saldanha has once again condemned the arrest of B V Seetharam and his wife Rohini and has asked the High Court to intervene.
Speaking at a press conference held here on Saturday March 10 morning he said that whatever has happened in the last one week after the arrest of B V See is absolutely wrong and unless High Court intervenes, journos would face real problems in the future.
"B V See is neither terrorist nor has been killed anyone. If his comments have hurt anyone, then, they should have gone to Press Council. But arresting him and trying to suppress the freedom of press in highly condemnable. Journalist and civilians should wake up and should protest in unison against this," he said.
He further said that it seems as if the complainant had something personal to settle with B V Seetharam. "Otherwise they would not have arranged it so well that when he gets bail at one place, he is arrested by police of other place. Using law to settle personal score is deplorable," he added.
PUCL state secretary Lakshminarayana, P B D'Sa and others were also present at the press conference.
