Bangalore, Mar 12: Nearly 300 members of the Secular Franciscan Order (SFO) from Bangalore and Mysore zones, gathered together on Sunday March 11 at St Theresa’s Church J C Road, here to observe a Lenten day of recollection, fast and penance as a preparation for the Easter.

The day’s programme included an inspiring talk by Fr Kanikaraj, on ‘Christian forgiveness’, a Special Way of the Cross, an Hour of meaningful adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and Holy Eucharist celebrated by Fr Rocky D’Cunha, Roshan Menezes and Fr Jerry Lobo. 

At the end of the spiritual programme, the release of the newsletter of Secular Franciscan Order at Gangondanahalli, Bangalore and the launching of the website of the same, took place at 4 pm. 

Fr A Thomas, the parish priest of St Theresa’s Church released the newsletter ‘Sauharda’ and Fr Rocky D’Cunha, national spiritual assistant of SFO launched the website of the SFO www.premnivas.com/sfo

Dr B S Talwadi, the editor of the newsletter ‘Sauharda’ explained the purpose and the need of the newsletter.  The SFO has newsletters in Tamil, Konkani, Malayalam, Hindi, Marathi, but it lacked in Kannada.  Therefore, this newsletter will serve all the SFO members who speak Kannada in and outside Karnataka, he said.

Br Victor Crasta, OFM Cap, the spiritual assistant of the SFO fraternity at Gangondanahalli spoke on the occasion. The website of the Secular Franciscan Order is the first in India.

The dignitaries present on the dais were Fr A Thomas, Fr Rocky D’Cunha, Br Victor Crasta, Fr Kanikaraj, Fr Jerry Lobo, Fr Arthur Menezes, Fr Roshan Menezes, James Saldanha, Kumar A R, Raphael Raj and Naveen D’Souza. 

The website has been powered by Naveen D’Souza for the SFO.
