Bantwal, Mar 12: International Women's Day was celebrated in Infant Jesus Church Modankap here on Sunday March 11.

The day began with the celebration of the Eucharistic celebration in the morning during which special blessings were invoked upon the women of the church and country at large.

The stage programme was inaugurated by parish priest Fr Roque D'Sa by cutting open the rice pouch of hay (muddo).

Sr Agnes Frank, correspondent of Sanjivini Community Health Centre, Kinnigoli, Celine Aranha, founder of Shubhada were the chief guests on the occasion.  Sr Beatrice Pereira, superior of Carmel Convent was also present on the dais.

Carmine Pinto welcomed the gathering while Anitha Veigas proposed the vote of thanks.  Lucy Pereira compered the programme.
