Kolkata, Mar 13: M Ahuja, who was detained for interrogation by different agencies after her SMS from N S C Bose International airport on Sunday night caused a hijack scare on an Indigo flight, was arrested on Monday.

West Bengal IGP (Law and Order) Raj Kanojia confirmed the arrest.

Police said they interrogated Ahuja to find out as to what prompted her to send the SMS and later put her under arrest.

Indigo's Kolkata-Delhi flight (6E-274) had to return to the airport here on Sunday night following the message, sent by the 25-year-old girl to her father, about a hijack scare on board the plane.

On receiving the SMS, her father contacted the Airports Authority of India and that led to the abandoning of the flight and its return to Kolkata with 138 passengers and three crew members.

The plane returned under emergency conditions and commandos and security personnel carried out thorough searches after offloading the aircraft. But nothing objectionable was found.

The plane was okayed by the AAI and all the passengers, except Ahuja, were accommodated for its fresh flight at about midnight.

Ahuja was asked to cancel her travel plans for more questioning.

She would be produced in a North 24-parganas district court, police said.
