Rs.1 crore ransom demanded for abducted Bihar businessman

Patna, April 21 (IANS): A ransom of Rs.1 crore has been demanded for the release of a businessman in Bihar's East Champaran district who was abducted on Sunday, his family members said on Tuesday.

Police were yet to make any breakthrough in the abduction of Raju Shah, owner of Raj Lakshmi Jewellers, who was kidnapped near Shripur village when he was on his way to Motihari.

"We received ransom calls twice in the last two days," said Shah's elder brother Prabhu Prasad, who has filed a case of kidnapping with the police.

He said the abductors also called Shah's wife Pinki Shah and threatened her with dire consequences if the ransom was not paid.
