Mangalore, Mar 13: A mother abandoned her mentally-challenged daughter near Noor Masjid near Milagres Church here on Monday 12.
The five-year-old girl child was found near Noor Masjid by some locals who in turn informed the police about this. Accordingly Pandeshwar SI came to the spot and took the child to the station. The child has been kept in Lady Goschen Hospital for the time being. Efforts are on to trace the mother of the child.
Since the child is mentally-challenged mother might have abandoned the child. But there is another theory that since it is a female child which is also mentally-challenged, the mother has abandoned her.
The Pandeshwar police have registered a complaint in this regard.
