Rajnath Singh 'deeply pained' over farmer's suicide

New Delhi, April 22 (IANS): Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday said he was "deeply pained" to hear about the suicide of a farmer at an AAP rally here.

He said he asked Delhi Police, which reports to him, to hold an inquiry into the death.

"Deeply pained to hear the news of a farmer committing suicide at Jantar Mantar. Instructed Delhi CP (commissioner of police) to institute an inquiry into the incident," Rajnath Singh said in a message on Twitter.

A farmer from Rajasthan hanged himself from a tree at the Aam Aadmi Party rally near Jantar Mantar here on Wednesday just before Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal addressed a gathering of several thousands against the controversial land ordinance.
