Kundapur, Mar 14: Chennamma, a suspected Naxalite who had been arrested at Amavasebail in the Shankarnarayana police station limits on Sunday March 11 was once again produced in the court on Tuesday March 13.  The magistrate extended her police custody by two more days.

As reported earlier Chennamma is a native of Hammige village in Mundaragi taluk in Gadag district.  However, she is known as Suma in the Naxalite movement.  During the initial interrogation she has agreed that she was the member of Varahi Group of Naxalites who are operating in the Western Ghat region which is adjacent to the border areas of Kundapur taluk.

She is said to have also agreed that she was involved in the shoot-out with the ANF and police at Dasikanu near Hallihole.  She has joined the Naxal movement almost a year ago.  Her parents back home never knew about her nexus with the Naxalites.  During the interrogation she has also requested the authorities to give her a job and that she would leave Naxal movement thereafter.
