New Delhi, Apr 23 (Agencies): Aam Aadmi Party workers and supporters instigated the suicide of Rajasthan farmer Gajendra Singh, say Delhi Police in an FIR registered by them.
According to TV reports, the FIR further says that fire-brigade vehicles were prevented by AAP workers and supporters from reaching the spot.
Crime Branch Police visited the scene of Singh’s 's suicide at Jantar Mantar in Delhi and started their probe on the incident.
Singh hanged himself from a tree in Delhi's Jantar Mantar on Wednesday. He was taken to hospital where doctors pronounced him dead. He was cremated at his native village in the district on Thursday.
Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and Pilot were among those present today.
"It is a very tragic incident and we are here to offer whatever support we can to the family. Farmers are distraught and feeling helpless.... There has been a system failure," Pilot said.

Congress, BJP hold protests over farmer's suicide, demand action against AAP
New Delhi, Apr 23 (Agencies): Congress workers today staged a protest outside Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's residence, over the suicide of a farmer during the AAP kisan rally.
At the same time, BJP workers are holding a protest outside the police headquarters in Delhi.
Home Minister Rajnath Singh will be making a statement in both the houses, Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha, over the farmer's suicide.
Blaming the Aam Aadmi Party for the unfortunate incident, Delhi Police stated that they had asked the party to hold the rally at Ramlila Ground as it would have been easier to handle the crowd there.
However, AAP ignored the suggestion of Delhi Police and went ahead with the rally at Jantar Mantar.
Now, Crime Branch is investigating the case. Delhi Police has filed an FIR under Section 306 and 186.
Rajnath tells Delhi Police to complete probe soon
New Delhi, Apr 23 (PTI): Home Minister Rajnath Singh today directed that the probe into the farmer's death at an AAP rally be completed soon.
Singh, who is likely to give a statement in Parliament on the issue, held a meeting with Delhi Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung and city Police Commissioner B S Bassi.
They briefed the Minister about yesterday's incident. Singh said that the probe should be completed as soon as possible as it was a "sensitive" matter, officials said.
He also directed that necessary steps be taken to ensure that such an incident does not recur.
The farmer from Rajasthan committed suicide at the rally in full public view in the presence of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal at Jantar Mantar here.
The incident triggered a blame game among political rivals with demands being made that a case of murder be filed against AAP which had organised a rally against the Centre's land acquisition ordinance.
The Home Minister had yesterday directed Delhi Police to probe the incident.
