Udupi, Mar 14: A pedestrian who had sustained critical injuries after being knocked down by a mobike succumbed to the injuries in a hospital here on Wednesday March 13.

The deceased has been identified as Mohandas Pai (79), a resident of Volakad near here.  He was walking by the roadside near Alankar Theatre along with his son Narahari Pai on Tuesday March 12 afternoon when a bike knocked him down.  Mohanddas had come for some personal work in the town panchayat here and was on his way back home when the accident occurred.

He sustained serious injuries in the accident and was admitted to KMC Hospital immediately.  But he breathed his last a day later on Wednesday in the hospital.  Mobike rider Sachin Sheth too has been admitted to the hospital after sustaining injuries in his head.

Mohandas Pai was the personal assistant of Gujjadi Prabhakar Nayak, former member of town municipality.  He was also the senior member of local unit of RSS.

Udupi traffic police have registered the case in this regard.
