Mangalore, Mar 15: The residents of Mangaladevi and New Monkey Stand area have demanded the4 administration to evict an illegally-run liquor shop of the vicinity.

The locals staged a protest demanding the eviction of liquor shop which is situated opposite to Ramakrishna Ashram and Mangaladevi Temple on Wednesday March 14.  The protest was held in front of the deputy commissioner's office and the locals were joined by MSW students in the protest.

Earlier more than hundred MSW students took out a rally from Monkey Stand to deputy commissioner’s office. The protestors said that despite several appeals to excise commissioner, deputy commissioner, mayor and the corporator to evict the said liquor shop, nothing has happened yet.  They also warned of intensifying the protest if the administration fails in evicting the shop for long.
