Sullia, Mar 15: In two separate fire tragedies near Subrahmanya here, 3 huts and 2 bikes were gutted on Wednesday March 14.  The total loss has been estimated at Rs 4 lac.

The first tragedy took place in the hutments erected by labourers from Dharwad-Bijapur who live Angadigudde near Subrahmanya Temple.  Fire broke out around 8 am in the morning and there was no one in most of the huts since they had gone for work.  Within a few minutes, flames of fire engulfed many huts.  Though the locals tried to extinguish the fire, they were not able to overpower for more than two hours.

Finally by the time the fire was brought under control, 3 huts were completely charred while two more were partially gutted.  The total loss has been estimated at Rs 1 lac.

In another tragedy, fire broke out in one Satyanarayana Patali's house in the early hours of Wednesday.  Satyanarayana Patali is the PRO of Subrahmanya Temple.  The fire broke out in the shed belonging to Satyanarayana which later spread to the house too.  As a result of the tragedy, two mobikes, a bicycle and several other wooden furniture was gutted.  The total loss has been estimated at Rs 3 lac in the mishap.
