Udupi, Mar 16: As per the earlier order issued by the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) it is now mandatory to install meter to auto rickshaws within the city limits from Friday March 16.

Accordingly the auto rickshaw drivers have been instructed to operate with meters (re-calibration) from Friday.  The RTA secretary in a circular has instructed that those who have not yet installed meters already, need to do it at the earliest.

He also said that the police and RTO would jointly start inspecting rickshaws from Wednesday March 21.  If any of the rickshaws are still found without re-calibration and that they still operate without meters, they would be fined.
