Udupi, Mar 16: Arrest of B V Seetharam of Karavali Ale and his wife Rohini who is also the director of Chitra Publications has been widely criticized all over. While both of them have been released on conditional bail a couple of days ago by Sagar court, thinkers, journalists and others are still holding protests and agitations against the entire way in which the matter was handled.
A similar protest rally organized by Pragatipara Patrakarta Sangha was held here in the city on Friday March 16 evening. More than hundred journalists, thinkers and social activists participated in the protest meet.
Addressing the protestors Balakrishna Kakatkar, director of Crime Story in Udaya TV condemned the way the entire episode handled and said that it was a systematic way of suppressing the voice of media. "It seems to have been well-organized to arrest B V Seetharam, a senior journalist and his wife. This is against the freedom of press and sad part is that entire law and order system has been hijacked by a few persons." he said.
Sunil Kumar Bajal of DYFI, P B D'Sa, Kalkuli Vithal Hegde Shringeri, Pragatipara Patrakarta Sangha president Dinakar Bengre, secretary Roopesh Kalmadi and others were also present at the protest meet and expressed their views.
