Mangalore, Mar 19: If police department works with their full force and without any interference by outer forces, they can perhaps do wonders. Cracking the Sukhanad Shetty murder case, solving the 8-month-old murder case of Spanish researcher in Beltangady are just couple of instances wherein efficiency of police is seen. There are number of other cases in which police have left no stone unturned to solve the case.
One fine example of this is here once again. A six-year-old case of murder of a financier near Kudroli here which closed after submitting 'C' report a couple of years ago has been solved by Pandeshwar police inspector Venkatesh Prasanna with the arrest of one of the prime accused.
But what is strange here is that the case was closed even when two of the accused were still in jail. Yes! While one of the accused was arrested recently, two other persons involved directly in the murder are in Mysore jail with regard to some other case. Though police had arrested them quite sometime ago, they were not able to get details about their criminal background. Even this case would have remained unsolved for ever, had not inspector Venkatesh Prasanna acted bit smartly.
One Hyder of Kudroli was recently arrested by Pandeshwar police with regard to one case. But thorough interrogation left everyone startled. He was the prime accused in the murder Lokanath, owner of Shri Durga Finance near Shri Gokarnanatha Temple at Kudroli. He was found murdered on December 7, 2001 evening. He was hacked to death by some unidentified men. The accused had fled with cash and ornaments from the finance.
Now Hyder has confessed that he along with Majeed alias Machu, Dinesh Poojary and two others had killed Lokanath and fled with case and ornaments. They had been following Lokanath very closely for long and had known that there was a lot of money and ever ornaments in the finance. A girl who was working in the finance used to leave home late in the evening. So on December 7, 2001, they had entered the finance firm after the girl had left home.
Before entering the firm they had disconnected the electricity supply of the firm. They murdered Lokanath and fled with valuables. Lokanath was found dead a little while later when electricity supply was restored. But Majeed and Dinesh had been put behind bars in connection with some other case that had taken place in Bantwal rural police station limits. Now with the arrest of Hyder the police have solved the entire case which was closed once. They are now searching for two more persons who are still at large.
