Mangalore, Mar 21: A talk on ‘Gandhian Non-violence and Youth’ was jointly organised by Mangalore University Gandhian Studies Centre and Karavali College of Education here on Tuesday March 20.
Speaking after inaugurating the lecture, superintendent of police B Dayanand said that the Gandhian philosophies are relevant even today and cited the example of the movie ‘Lage Raho Munnabhai’ to explain the need for non-violent methods to deal with the violence existing in the world today.
He expressed his concern over the diminishing sense of harmony in the city and urged parents to instil the non-violent philosophies of Mahatma Gandhi in their children.
Mangalore University Political Science department faculty Dr Rajaram Tholpadi delivered the talk. G R Education Trust chairman S Ganesh Rao presided over the programme.
SDM Law College principal Dr B K Ravindra in his speech blamed the politicians for causing disharmony in the city.
SP Dayanand was felicitated on the occasion.
Among those present were Gandhian Studies Centre director Prof P L Dharma, Karavali College principal Prof Akshay Kumar and Karavali College of Education principal Prof Ananda B.
