Mumbai, Mar 21: An Internet connection is all it takes to cut down the time you fritter away waiting for the train at your local station.

The Western Railway’s tailor-made website now lets you check whether your 9:15am Virar-Churchgate fast is on time, in turn reducing the time you spend waiting at a crowded railway station.

“Keeping the 26/7 deluge and the 11/7 blasts in mind, we decided to provide on-the-dot services to the commuters, we have decided to start this scheme whereby people can verify whether the trains are on time or delayed,” said Satya Prakash, divisional railway manager (DRM) for Western Railway.

The website wr.indianrail.gov.in provides all the information relevant to the Western Railway — right from online train status, online ticket booking, PNR enquiry to Indian Railway time table.

“Under the head ‘Mumbai Train Info’, there is an option Suburban Train Info. The page displays arrival of the train at important suburban stations like Virar, Bhayander, Borivali, Andheri, Bandra, Dadar, Mumbai Central and Churchgate. If the trains are on time ‘RT’ is displayed indicating Right Time.

However, if there are delays, the time of delay will be displayed on the site,” he said.
