Sensex sheds 37 points in early trade


Mumbai, May 5 (IANS): A benchmark index of Indian equities markets, the 30-scrip Sensitive Index (Sensex), on Tuesday was trading 36.71 points or 0.13 percent down.

The wider 50-scrip Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) also trading 15.80 points or 0.19 percent down at 8316.15 points.

The Sensex of the S&P Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 27,561.32 points, was trading at 27,453.88 points (at 9.16 a.m.) in the early session, down 36.71 points or 0.13 percent from the previous day's close at 27,490.59 points.

The Sensex touched a high of 27,603.71 points and a low of 27,423.86 points in the trade so far.

Selling pressure was seen in power, fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) and banking sectors, while good buying was observed in IT sector.
