Mangalore, Mar 23: Eight persons were injured in a group clash that broke-out at Nejar near Kallianpur here on Thursday March 22 evening.  Situation remains tensed in Nejar after the clashes.

The sources said that a group of 10 Muslim youth assaulted 3 members of Dalit Sangharsh Samiti over a trivial issue.  However, both the groups have filed complaint with the Malpe police in this regard.

Rajesh, Umesh and Naveen of DSS have been injured and are being treated in district government hospital.  Rajesh has sustained injuries in his head and is admitted in ICU.  On the other hand members of other group Ashraf, Iqbal, Sharif, Asif and Imtiaz too have sustained injuries and are admitted to hospital.

Though the reason behind the clashes is not known, it is said that fight was result of some personal rivalry.  Meanwhile DSS convener Jayan Malpe has requested members of both the communities to maintain peace since the fight was over a personal matter which has nothing to do with communities.
