Muscat, March 23: As part of the annual competitions held by the Mangalorean Catholic Centre of the Parish (MCCP), the Holy Bible Verses Recitation competition was held on 23 March at the Ruwi Church hall. More than 300 people witnessed this unique event which involved 42 children as participants.
The event kicked-off with welcome by Hilda Rasquinha, spiritual coordinator for MCCP. Fr Albert D’Silva Cap was invited on stage to lead a short prayer. Ken Borthwick, Henry Sanjivi and Godfree D’Souza were the judges for the competition, who were felicitated with flowers and mementos. Nirmala Goveas, general secretary of MCCP introduced the judges to the hall whereas Clarence Pinto, main coordinator (Cultural & Spiritual Committee) escorted main sponsor Dennis Mascarenhas to the stage. Paulose Jose of Seon Ashram was also called on stage and honoured by Suraj Rebello, main coordinator for sports and finance committee .
The entire competition was distributed in six groups of various age levels and children with full exuberance took part in this competition. Winners of the event are:

Lunch was served by Tawoos Caterers. Stanley Fernandes sponsored soft drinks whereas Pizza Hut provided gifts. Stanley Fernandes, Bernard Leu, Longinas Fernandes and Austin managed the lighting and sound system. Jessy Moras, Flavia D’Souza, Philomena Saldanha, Philomena Moras, Shalet Noronha, Cyril Rego and Ajay Barboza supported the entire event. Suraj Rebello, main coordinator for sports and finance committee announced names of winners. Monica Danthis proposed vote of thanks. The entire event was gracefully compered by Hilda Rasquinha.
