Honda to roll out 'made in India' sports bike


New Delhi, May 6 (IANS): Two-wheeler major Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India on Wednesday said its high-end sports bike CBR 650F will be assembled in India as part of its 'Make in India' campaign and rolled out in the market in two months' time.

Speaking to reporters here, Keita Muramatsu, the company's president and chief executive, said FY16 will see India contributing nearly 25 percent of Honda's global sales.

Muramatsu said the company's plant in Gujarat will be go on stream this year.

The plant in Karnataka is also being expanded. The total production capacity in India will touch 6.4 million units soon, he said.

Officials said the company's nine new products remain to be launched out of the 15 planned for the year.
