Infiltration bid foiled on LoC in Poonch, guerrilla killed


Jammu, May 8 (IANS): The Indian Army on Friday killed a guerilla who attempted to infiltrate across the Line of Control (LoC) in Mendhar sector of Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district.

Indian Army spokesperson Colonel Manish Mehta told IANS in winter capital Jammu: "One infiltrator was successfully eliminated at the LoC at Sune Gali, Mendhar (Poonch) today (Friday).

"An army patrol headed by an officer was fired upon 300 meters on our side of the LoC at 8.50 a.m. on Friday.

"Alert troops immediately retaliated ensuring successful elimination of the infiltrator."

One AK-47 rifle, two hand grenades and ammunition were recovered.
