Government keeping 'close watch' on country's security concerns

New Delhi, May 8 (IANS): The government keeps a close watch on all developments having a bearing on our national security, Defence Minister Manhohar Parrikar told the Lok Sabha on Friday.

In reply to a question on whether the government was aware of the increase in import of weapons by neighbouring countries, the minister said they were keeping a "close watch" on it.

"Appropriate steps are taken to ensure that the security concerns pertaining to the borders are adequately addressed through various measures including capability building and infrastructural development etc," the minister said.
