Man fined Rs.5,000 for burning leaves


New Delhi, May 8 (IANS): An employee of the Meghalaya House here has paid Rs.5,000 fine imposed by the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) for burning dry leaves and plastic.

An NDMC statement said the man was caught by its staff on Thursday morning when he was burning a pile of dry leaves and other waste in the premises of Meghalaya House in the heart of the capital.

A FIR was slapped against the man, Sri Chand, who paid the fine to the NDMC. "This is for the time in NDMC area that a fine of Rs.5,000 has been imposed in a case of burning of dry leaves."
