Tamil Nadu chief minister may resign soon


Chennai, May 11 (IANS): Tamil Nadu Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam is expected to resign soon and Jayalalithaa may be sworn-in before May 20, a source in the AIADMK said on Monday.

Once Jayalalithaa is sworn-in, she has to get elected to the assembly within six months in a by-poll.

Instead of a by-poll, she may opt for a snap elections to the assembly to beat the opposition.

A special bench of the Karnataka High Court on Monday acquitted Jayalalithaa in the Rs.66.65-crore disproportionate assets' case.
