Udupi: Three injured in car-bike collision; young child suffers serious wounds

Udupi, May 19: Three people including a child, sustained serious injuries in a head-on collision between a car and a bike near Kanchinadka on Karkala road.

The incident occurred on the afternoon of Monday May 18. Bike rider and Udyavar resident Subrahmanya, his fiancée Jayashree, and Pranav, a two-and-a-half-year-old child Pranav from their neighborhood, are the injured. The child who has serious head injuries has been admitted to a private hospital in Mangaluru.

They had come from Palimar to Padubidri on Monday afternoon to eat ice cream. The accident occurred when they were returning to Palimar. When a Maruti Omni vehicle plying to Padubidri suddenly applied brakes at Kanchinadka on the Karkala-Padubidri road, an i20 car right behind the Omni overtook it and collided with the bike approaching from the opposite direction.

The driver of the Omni fled the spot with the vehicle while the locals beat up the driver of the i20 car.

Padubidri police arrived at the spot and conducted an investigation after registering the case.
