Kabul, May 19: A suicide car bomb that blasted off on Tuesday afternoon, and is suspected to have been targeting Justice Ministry officials, killed 6 and injured nearly forty people, here. An Afghan official is reported to have confirmed that the vehicle was indeed parked in the car park located in front of the Justice Ministry.
Interior Ministry spokesman Sediq Sediqqi said that the car had been brimming with explosives. While 9 people were rendered gravely injured, nearly 40 have been to the police station for some or the other wound caused by the bomb. Some of these injuries were from the shards of glass that got blasted to smithereens and flew out in all directions.
The bomb had been wired to go off around 4 pm so as to harm the maximum number of employees of the Justice Ministry. The large number of people getting injured was due to the fact that the building is surrounded on all sides by residential buildings and shops.
This, third blast of the week, has not been claimed by any terrorist group. The Taliban however had claimed the previous blast at a guesthouse in Kabul, which killed 14. It also took responsibility for another blast - a suicide car bombing which killed 9 foreigners including two young girls.
