Udupi, May 20: Addressing a press meet at Bharatiya Janatha Party office Kadiyali, here on Tuesday May 19, former MLA of Udupi, Raghupati Bhat said, "A new block level BJP office will be inaugurated at Brahmavar on Friday May 22 by law minister D V Sadananda Gowda. MP of Udupi- Chikmagaluru constituency Shobha Karandlaje will be inaugurating the convention. A bike rally will commence from Karavali Junction and will be flagged off by V Sunil Kumar, MLA of Karkala.

Comparing the administration of the Congress CM who has completed two years of his term in office to that of the NDA party, Bhat said, "The people are totally disappointed with its administration. Developmental works have come to a complete standstill and it has failed to meet the public demands.

Bhat further condemned the attitude of MLA Pramod Madhwaraj who has restricted himself to only attending foundation laying ceremonies, inauguration of pending works initiated during BJP term and distribution of BPL cards to beneficiaries. The former MLA never objected while the Science Research Center was being set up at Belapu. Kaup is once again all set to becoming a municipality instead of Brahmavar. Brahmavar has also been declared a taluk but the execution process is yet to start.

He also added that a post graduation center in Kolalgiri was the dream of the late education minister V S Acharya and the government had approved Rs 5 crore and 30 acres of land during the time of C T Ravi as education minister. Sorake is now going to cocentrate on the development of Kaup. Bhat criticized Kaup for being less developed compared to Brahmavar, Byndoor and Hebri. He was supposed to initiate the Agricultural Science College and the medical college in Brahmavar, but the process has been delayed.

Regarding the hurdles on village panchayat elections, 299 party candidates have submitted nominations out of 327 seats in 19 panchayats of the Udupi constituency. The Nagarika Samiti members will be contesting the elections from Kemmannu and Varamballi village panchayats. In Kokkarne the candidate will be selected unanimously by the party activists.

Raghavendra Kini, town party president, Satish Kumar and others were present.
