A year in office: Modi meets senior ministers

New Delhi, May 20 (IANS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi met his senior cabinet colleagues on Wednesday to discuss programmes to mark the first anniversary of his government, sources said.

Modi returned from a three-nation tour of China, Mongolia and South Korea on Tuesday night.

The sources said that the meeting was attended by union Ministers Rajnath Singh, Arun Jaitley, Sushma Swaraj, M. Venkaiah Naidu and Nitin Gadkari.

The Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance government assumed office on May 26 last year.

The government aims to reach out to people with its "pro-poor" and "pro-farmer" initiatives. It will also highlight its other achievements.

The sources said that discussions have been held between the party and the government to ensure mutual synergy in highlighting the achievements.

They said the government is expected to bring out a report on its achievements and that ministers will hold press conferences in Delhi and other parts of the country.
