Mumbai, Apr 5: In preparation for Good Friday, Christians all over observed Maundy Thursday on April 5.
Maundy Thursday is marked by re-enacting the washing of the feet of his apostles by Jesus Christ a day before his death, at what is known as the Last Supper.
In all churches in Mumbai, this ceremony was held. Twelve persons representing the twelve apostles were blessed with the ritual of the washing of the feet and were given the symbolic bread. This marks the preparation for Good Friday.
On Friday, the faithful are expected to fast and venerate the Cross in honour of Jesus Christ.
Here are some representative views from the Sacred Heart Church on Mahakali Caves Road in Andheri (East), where Fr Cyprian Lewis washed the feet of the disciples. Over twenty priests joined in the ceremony.
