Land acquired by government not for corporates: Amit Shah

New Delhi, May 22 (IANS): Not an inch of land acquired under the new land acquisition act will be given to corporates, BJP president Amit Shah said on Thursday.

Speaking at the 'Manthan' conclave of Aaj Tak, he said: "Not an inch of land will be given to corporate or private sector, only projects under state or central government will get land for development."

"No one is stopping corporate from getting land.. (but) government will not acquire it for them. If they want land, they must buy it from farmer and give the price farmers want," he said.

Shah said the land bill is not against farmers. "We believe the bill is not anti-farmer," he said.

"If it is not right, people will decide (during elections)," he said.
