In a complaint filed in Manipal police station here on Thursday May 21, Pramod said he had boarded the train at Mumbai on May 17. He had alighted at Barkur railway station on May 18 morning, thinking it to be Udupi. After all the luggage was removed from the train and kept on the platform, he suddenly realized that it was not the destination he wanted to reach.

As he was trying to load all the luggage back into the train, four unidentified persons travelling in the train helped him in the task. One of them handled the red bag in which ornaments were kept. Pramod reached Udupi thereafter, and went home.

On reaching home, Pramod Shetty said he verified the red bag and found that a corner of the bag had been cut through, and gold ornaments kept inside had been stolen.
