Mangaluru: GP candidate dies in accident at Ganjimath

Mangaluru, May 23: A motor bike rider was killed after the motor bike he was riding was hit by a car at Gandhinagar near Ganjimath within Bajpe police station limits on the night of Friday May 22.

The deceased has been identified as Manohar (35), an electrician by profession, and resident of Tarolikadu. He was moving in his motor bike towards Yedapadavu from Ganjimath, when a car belonging to Shivaprasad, veterinary officer of Kuppepadavu vertinary centre, knocked him down, causing his instant death.

Manohar had entered the fray for the upcoming gram panchayat election as a candidate from Kompadavu village within Muchchoor gram panchayat.

Postmortem of the body was conducted at Ganjimath primary health centre. Manohar has left behind wife and three daughters.

It is said that carelessness on the part of the car driver caused this accident. A case stands registered in this connection at Bajpe police station.
