Motorsports: Donison tops among seniors, Gowda among juniors


Bengaluru, May 23 (IANS): The 2015 national karting season kicked off here on Saturday, with Round 1 of the JK Tyre MMS Rotax Max Kart Open series at the new Meco Kartopia circuit that witnessed plenty of hot competition in all the three categories - Micro, Juniors and Seniors.

The senior category (15 years and over) witnessed numerous battles throughout the grid with Ricky Donison of BPC Racing topping Round 1, ahead of the Rayo Racing trio of Ameya Bafna, Arya Gandhi and Nayan Chatterjee.

In the junior category (13-16 years), Aaroh Ravindra of Rayo Racing won the first race of the day, but could not maintain his pace, while Akash Gowda of Meco Racing took the honours in the next two races.

Nikhil Bohra of Meco Racing dominated the micro category (7-12 years) to win Round 1 comfortably.

Final Results:

JK Meco Kart Open - Seniors: Ricky Donison (BPC Racing) 1 (40 Points); Ameya Bafna (Rayo Racing) 2 (35 pts); Arya Gandhi (Rayo Racing) 3 (30 pts).

Juniors: Akash Gowda (Meco Racing) 1 (38 pts); Aaroh Ravindra (Rayo Racing) 2 (37 pts); Mohammed Nalwalla (Rayo Racing) 3 (31 pts).

Micro: Nikhil Bohra (Meco Racing) 1 (40 pts); Ruhaan Alwa (BPC Racing) 2 (33 pts); Shahan Ali Mohsin (Meco Racing) 3 (32 pts).
